All teachers and students have encountered a Farley at some point in their school experiences. Farley reminds us that each of us is important and can be helpful and valuable to others, no matter what our circumstances. So this could open discussion forcharacter education in the classroom.

“As a teacher, it is rare to find a book that students in this grade level can truely relate to and learn a lessom from. When I read Filthy Farley O’Charlie McBarley, I was very impressed with the message that it sent to the reader. In our area, poverty is a very familiar problem. Therefore, students can empathize with Farley. It is a rare occurrence when a student can learn a valuable life lesson while improving their reading skills with a book that is as enjoyable as this one. This story is very age-appropriate for elementary and middle school students, but is heartwarming no matterwhat age. The author, Pat Brannon, is an incredibly talented writer, which is evident
in this children’s book. I would recommend this book to every teacher, parent, and student. In my opinion, this book is a must read!
